Description
Nairobi expressway is a flagship project by the national government of Kenya and the first roads project to be funded through a private public partnership (ppp) model, at a cost of more than Ksh 59 Billion. The project is part of the major Nairobi – Mombasa expressway that will link the Country’s major cities of Nairobi and Mombasa.
The route will also provide a very important connection between the A109 Nairobi to Mombasa route and A104 Nairobi to Malaba route.
This will allow through traffic to use the expressway rather than having to pass through the city’s chronic congestion.
The key features of this project are as follows:
a) A closed foil system with more than 19 interchanges to be built along the route.
b) The road is 27.1 km from Mlolongo to James Gichuru junction in Westlands.
c) Elevated Highway with two traffic lanes in either direction.
d) Dedicated Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) facility services offered.
Construction of this project began in 2020 and is currently ongoing.
EDCONS (K) LTD among a consortium of three companies ie DAR and UNICONSULT LTD were appointed as the independent experts (IE) for the project in 2020.
The company provided the following stuff for the project:

4) Electrical Engineer
5) Architect
6) Quality Assurance Technician
